People with Determination (Adult Special Needs)

MR M.A is a 51 year-old male.
Diagnosed late on in life as an adult with severe anxiety, autism spectrum and attention deficit syndrome.
Unfortunately for many adults who were wrongly misdiagnosed as young children, growing up with difficulties around the autism spectrum and ADHD alienated them from learning and the enjoyment of support in the schooling system, families and society. Consequently, many special needs adults with ADHD and Autism Spectrum suffer social anxiety, and misjudge human behaviour and meaning of adult conversations. They also find it increasing difficult to form lasting relations or hold down jobs. ACOUP offers adult mentors /companions to integrate people of determination into a functioning way of life that supports the adult charge. For Mr MA he was able to get back into the workforce 2 days a week, and the mentor ensured the new employer understood his limitations as well as achievements he would be capable of. Mr M.A was also accompanied to special interest groups, was accompanied in outdoor activities, and generally mentored along in social skills.
Mr MA was also able to undertake international travel without having panic attacks, and has better quality of independent living.
He has also managed to move home, undertaken renovations -a huge milestone in achievements. He is happier , less anxious and is an inspiration to us all , and is truly a man of sheer determination.
